Insulating loft

Our loft currently has some insulation but is boarded out both on floor and under the eaves. We know it's not up to the current recommended amount so the easiest option seems to us to be to put space boards on top of the wood panelling under the eaves. Would this be alright to do?
In the past we've used the loft as a sewing room and also for a model railway to run around but now it's only used for storage.
Thanks.

assuming the loft is ventilated through the eaves and ridge then you don't want to put anything at the eaves and block the ventilation to the roofspace, the insulation is meant to stop heat loss between a heated and unheated space, so normally that's why you insulate the ceiling heavily, if the attic is being used as a room there should be insulation between the roof trusses on the sloping portion of roof and the insulation in the ceiling wouldn't be worth upgradingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks. Sorry if I'm being really dense but as we're only using it for storage now will we be OK to put extra insulation in the way of space boards on top of the exsisting part of the sloping roof that is boarded out. There is insulation inbetween the roof trusses with the boarding put on top but this was done probably 25 - 30 years ago. Oh, and there is good ventilation as well up there. Hope this makes sense:o0

As above it should be ventilated therefore no point in boarding up the eaves.
There are government grants available, not sure on the criteria.
Just wish a certain Indian sales would stop pestering day in day out, already shouted at him 5 times and lost me rag each time.0
