Induction hob whirlpool but where to buy?

Just really wanted to share this oddity and see if anyone had any ideas why, how, what????
In April this year Whirlpool. a substantial and long lived company, launched a new induction hob ACM 750 BA. It has some great features, 3 heat areas and was perfect for what I wanted. However I couldn't find a price on the web.
In the end I called whirlpool who said they had them in stock and that I should buy it from a dealer. I persuaded them to find me a dealer and to their surprise they couldn't. So in the end they agreed to sell me one direct from them. And they had therefore to give me a price - something that they had refused to do before.
I like whirlpool as a manufacturer of appliances and am tempted to grab one based on the fact the quote may be trade (and I'm not) and they may be in short supply but it all seems a little odd
