Can't get audio on my DVD player from today??

Hi, gave OH a DVD for Xmas and today the DVD player won't play audio. The picture is fine. Haven't changed any settings from last time it played ok (about a month ago). It's connected to the TV with a SCART lead (monster cable). We have tried everything but can't see any way to get it to play with sound.

could it be the SCART or likely to be the DVD player? It's a Philips DVP3005.

1st check the dvd settings and make sure the volume is on and set to high.
Check with another dvd. Make sure the scart is inserted fully into dvd/tv. If you have any rca cables (red/white) use them instead of the scart. you wont get a picture as nothing is put in the yellow connector but it should play sound if its the scart cable that is broken. Maybe check the dvd player on another tv if you have one
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

Thanks Rygon. Have done all that, except we don't have rca cables and we only have one TV.
