Hi all
im after a car(307cc) with low mileage and thought the mileages would appear on a mycarcheck 9.95 report but it says:
Sorry, we do not have any mileages recorded for this registration.
thought the info came from dvla on mots?
any ideas?
thanks

i arent into consumer data checks
but
i think youve done a cardata check with some organisation on a particular car and no mileage has come back to check whether its been clocked
yes?
how old is car
more than 3 years?
get the long number off the v5c front cover
or
the last mot serial number and go to the vosa website to check previous history
or ring last owner showing on log book
you seem unsure so head your carefulness as it is good0 -
yes its a 2004 model0

Only what is on the speedo is recorded. In the case of my Ford Capris, every one of them had one or more speedo changes in my ownership as instrument binnacle faults were common.
So a MOT recorded speedo reading is not a guarantee as to mileage being genuine. Only what is recorded on the service history from new can give an indication and that tends to only be available from the main dealers.0 -
Stupid question - has the car had an MOT yet? (If it's less than three years old it probably won't have)
The mileage gets recorded when the car changes hands, if the seller writes the mileage on the V5 (it's an optional field).
I also thought it got recorded after each MOT...
Does the car have its historical MOT certificates and a service record? You could look through those if the HPI report doesn't show any mileages but of course they could be faked...0 -

There are loads of other events which cause the mileage to be recorded. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
