Firefox update and Java

I ran update and it installed 2.0.0.1
It tells me that one plug-in is not compatible - Java Console 6 - and it will keep an eye on this until Java release a new version that works with Firefox
Surely it should be the other way round? - a new Firefox version should support common software; after all Sun Java has been around for long enough, and I sort of assumed the last version did

I have had no issues - do you run no script?

You're right - I hadn't tried - it seems to still run Java on a couple of sites, though said it didn't support the latest version.
