nursing mother cat and cone collar!

hi all after a bit of advice till i can talk to my vet in the morning, basicly my cat has a nasty bite wound under her arm pit,on monday i took her to the vet and she has been put on antibiotics. bang on her due date today she has given birth to a kitten, kitten and mum are both fine, as soon as i realized she was giving birth i removed the cone collar however she has now made her arm saw again:mad: i`v put the collar back on her for now as i`m unsure what to do! anyone else had this problem?

    oo i dunno about this....... she has just given birth and has the collar on.... hmmmm baby kitty is not going to like that one bit is it..... and how is mum going to clean/feed it without knocking it with the cone collar ( bloomin awful things)

    is there anyway you could put a bandage type thing/ sock with foot removed over the cut on arm?? just until you phone/visit the vets?

    i took her to the vets in the end the next morning forgot about the thread :o the collar is now off and mum is on some stronger anti biotics. bandaging was not an option acording to the vet due to where it is (under her arm pit),it now looks to be healing well so hopefully by the time she has finished her course it will be fine, if not she will be having tissue removed when she go`s in to be neutered :)
