Problem with surface water drains

hi there, hope someone can shed some light on this. I have a small concrete manhole on my drive which has been blowing open and pouring with water after each of the heavy spells of rain (Just moved in and this is one in a long list of surprises we have!)
It starts a few minutes after the rain and continues for several minutes after it has stopped, it is a lot of water like a torrent for several minutes running down the road, I cannot imagine it is purely the surface water from my property and think there may be a something happening in the main surface water sewer causing it to back up to my manhole, does this sound likely? I guess I'm hoping it just isn't my problem to fork out for. I have a drainage guy coming tomorrow but would be good to have some prior knowledge. Thanks anyone who can help EGW x

If there is a drain taking surface water in your area it is obviously not going to be just taking your surface water. This will likely be what is causing the backing up. Is it just rainwater or is there proper sewage as well. The drain man should be able to tell you if there is a collapse or other partial blockage affecting your drain.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Thank you. As I suspected problem with main surface water sewer backing up to our manhole £120 for the privilege of finding out, hopefully I can reclaim from the waterboard!0
