Economy 7 charges

I live in a small modern 2 bed apartment and changed my energy supplier to N Power in 2006. Since then, I have had nothing but problems, including no billing, then billing for thousands of pounds. After 2 years of dealing with their Executive complaints dept, I have finally been billed at £23 in credit. However the meter readings state that I consume four times the amount of electricity in the day than the night and my consumption is three times that of my upstairs neighbour whose flat is twice the size. N Power say the meter is fine. What can I do? I am concerned about changing supplier if the meter is faulty and still feel that I have been paying for electricity that I haven't used. Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

Well in my own experience the sole reason for Npower's existence is to make all of the other utility suppliers look good.

Regardless of whether (you believe) the meter is faulty or not, I would imagine that the poor service you've had from them in other areas was enough grounds to move away to another supplier?.

What appliances are being used during the day?. Have you made other attempts to prove the meter is inaccurate, such as buying / borrowing an energy monitor and using it to track the main meter readings?

  • An electricity monitor is a good idea. Thanks.
