Top up prepay meter before price hike

Hi I live in a rented house fitted with a prepay electric meter.
I know its not the cheapest way to pay for electric but were stuck with it because prevous tennants were not so good at paying bills.

Anyway I buy my electric from british gas about £20 every 3 weeks.
thanks to the emails from this website I have been informed about the impending 18% price hike.

My question is should I top up by say £200 before the price hike?

I know that everytime I top up it reprograms the meter at the latest rate. But is there a remote connection that could reprogram it uknowing?

Regards

Haydn Murray

I believe (I do not work in the payg team) that on august 18th the meter will start charging you at the new rates regardless of when you topped up in the same way that a DD or cash customer could pay a whack now but on the date the new prices kick in we estimate a reading to start charging the new rates from. If the meter is there because of previous tenants problems we can change the meter free subject to a credit check. This would then allow you to have an online tariff and pay by DD if you wanted

just say you have a health condition, they will remove it without
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
