Interview under caution

I suggest you go, I think ignoring it and waiting to see if the police will turn up to arrest you would be horrendous, especialy as you are feeling so worried now, just think how it would be everyday waiting for the old bill to bang on the door.
As you have been told, you dont have to say anything if you feel you cant defend yourself well enough, you just tell the investigator that you would like the interview suspended untill you can get someone professional to come with you and help you.
I do think in your case its gonna be one of those times where you worry yourself into a frenzy only to find you have nothing to worry about at all. I really hope you let us know what happened and how you got on.0 -
Thank you. I am shaking like a leaf now and it's not til 10.30!! I really hope it is just nothing to worry about. I can't help bit think as the overpayment was so large that they will have no choice but to prosecute :-( x0

Hoobily, I am just leaving a note to wish you luck today. I hope there is a friend or relative who can go with you and give you some much needed moral support.
Easy for me to say, but stay as calm as you can. All they will be questioning you about is what you have declared to them already right. You are already paying that overpayment back and have letters and documents to prove the situation. I would think the worst that will happen is they will apply a penalty fee or offer a benefits caution. This is not a criminal record type caution. It just puts a note on your benefits file.
Please let us know how it goes. Dont drive to the office in this state. Can anyone give you a lift or totally non mse get a taxi. Good luck Hoobily0 -
Thank you for your comments make me wise. Really need them now. Hopefully it will all be ok. It's round the corner from where I work so can just walk straight from work. I have got a friend coming with me as i need it. I will let you know how I get on. xx0

Well all done now. Was really scary. The lady was really nice and she said I'd failed to notify them of mainly tax credit changes and that was an offence but she said she won't recommend prosecution as I was so worried!! She now has to take all the tapes and information gained from the interview and pass it to her boss who will make the decision. But I am still a bit worried about being prosecuted. Hopefully over the worst now though. Fingers crossed.
Thank you all also for your kind words and suppot and information. It has been invaluable and I really appreciate it all. Thank you again xxx0 -
