why do you say he was vulnerable at 65? Did he not have all his faculties when he went down this path? You cannot turn the clock back op, it was his choice at the time
hear hear - i just cannot understand this ageism stuff - things like books titled "computing for the over 50's" - whats that all about?

the tablet/notepad/internet was designd and built by the over 50's so just thinka bit about that before you start.

in fact here's your starter for 10 - where did the internet begin?

    no googling now!

I think it had something to do with the US Government, during the Cold War they wanted to build a network that would survive should part of it be destroyed in the event of a nuclear strike from the Russians.

    It grew from there.

Thanks, kittie and bigfreddie1. I tend to bristle these days at the assumption that everyone over 'a certain age' is "vulnerable". If anyone ever dared to apply that appellation to me I would have a few choice words to say to them.

In fact banks and building societies nowadays have to treat everyone alike regardless of age, sex, creed, colour or anything else. I would NOT go to a bank or building society for any such 'advice', knowing that they can sell only their own products. If I wasn't happy with doing my own research and making my own decisions I'd have gone to an IFA. They can research the whole market and find the best deal for you.

It was used by the US defense dept, and it is where the idea of !!!!!! on the net came along. All those men (not many women in armed services back then) ann that time away from home lol and bored in between doing their work.

But I beleive a Mr T berners lee from the UK ( no didn't google him so dont' knwo if right spelling) did the basic maths algorythms etc that got it going I think.

I tend to bristle these days at the assumption that everyone over 'a certain age' is "vulnerable".

People seem to want it both ways. I came across a complainant the other day who was "taking out my first mortgage, so I was young, naive and vulnerable". He was 41 at the time...

I think there might be some magic age of around 47 and a quarter where people *don't* claim they're vulnerable.
