Damn! Even though I'm getting the 31 version (I think) and also the magnetic filter (not sure which type), your quote is alot cheaper. A pity you're based in Leeds!
If you are getting a 31 make sure you have the correct water pressure.X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.

That's odd. Same ht exchanger as vaillant too. Must say though, I've worked on loads of them and the only weak point I found was the (older) condensate trap falling apart.
Anyway, don't want to hijack the thread but thanks for the info.

I had similar question and hada thread on here. I went for a Viessman with 5 year warranty. Kept my airing cupboard/immersion heater/tank though as I use the airing cupboard to dry my washing.....
At the time was torn between this and WB but were quite favourable reviews on Viessman. I'm sure someone will probably argue otherwise though, everyone seems to have good/bad to say about both.0 -
Just some thoughts on the magnetic filters, as you say you don't know which one to get. The magnaclean really does work, but there have been many ongoing problems with them leaking, needing the new upgraded seals etc. I like that you can see what they have collected when you remove the magnet, and on some systems it's quite impressive. It also provides a dosing point for chemicals, however once they start leaking they can be a nightmare, i've had to replace the whole body and tighten the inside of the valves on a number of them.
The magnabooster is easier to fit and clean out, as well as being more aesthetically pleasing, but it's debatable as to how well they work. I always seem to get a bit of dirty water out with a few bits of magnetite and not a lot else. Spirotech say the reason you don't see a lot of debris coming out is due to the speed in which it is flushed out :rotfl:
The Fernox filter looks good as it seems to combine the previous two, it has a removable magnet, and can be flushed out rather than needing to isolate it at the valves, however I haven't had any experience of emptying them on real systems so don't know how effective they are.0 -
