Use their price promise. Say you could have bought it at another one of their stores, which is technically another retailer. I had a boss caught on this one once and he gave them the difference back !

    In Store Price Promise

Can you find it cheaper? If so we'll refund the difference.

The product must be like for like, confirmed to be in stock with the other retailer, distance is no object.

This policy excludes promotions and special deals, mail order and Internet purchases.

Yeah but I hardly think that the price promise will be able to be done as its the same stores and also its now the sale/special deals.

Personally I would be pretty cheesed off that this had happened, see what the head office say, but I wouldnt have bought it that close to Christmas as the sales are bound to provide some good offers

can you order one online for delivery instore - doesn't cost extra - then return the original when you know your orders been placed? is woolies on quidco?
  • I've used their price promise when the price dropped a few days later in the store I bought the item from. They didn't question it at all.
  • I thought that special deal of £499 was only if you ordered one on-line for home delivery. If you bought in-store or bought off the internet and got it delivered to the store the price is £599 still I believe?

Just a note, I think I recall something about that TV having a recall due to the wiring or something in it so it may need to go back anyway
  • Hi Mate

Not sure if you've had the answer yet as I haven't read all of the replies.

I know you can get the money back. I bought a Xmas tree from woolies this year for £80 and then they reduced it to £60. I only had to take my receipt in and they credited the £20 difference to it. I'd had the tree 3 weeks and it was unopened. (I did call them first to explain)

I'm sure they'll be as good with you

    Good luck

  • Thanks for that James, I will go to the store tomorrow and see what they have to say.

I had a similar situation with a wardrobe and 2 chest of drawers from B & Q. I didn't even have them in the car, just the reciept in my purse, and I asked at customer services desk...

"If I go home and bring back the wardrobe and drawers can I get a refund and then buy them back again at the reduced price?" The woman told be there was no need and gave me the refund there and then!

There are shops in USA that you can get a refund if the item goes down in the sales.
