Music from windows media to IPod

All my kids have been given Ipod shuffles from Santa this year ( he was very lucky and got them half price from Argos)

Anyway I am used to transfering music to another MP3 player I have but I have a feeling you have to go through Itunes to put music on the shuffle.

If this the case or is there a way I can transfer music from windows media as I have a lot of stuff already on there .

Thanks x

Same problem here so any help appreciated?
  • You'll have to use iTunes.
Assuming that you don't have any DRM'ed WMA files (if you've bought from Napster or its ilk) then the first time you install iTunes it will ask if it can scan your hard drive for any music files. Click Yes and it will add them to the iTunes library.

    Simple as that really.

If you have already installed iTunes go into your music folder, highlight the music you want to add and drag it over to the iTunes logo. That should add it to iTunes.

That should be it (can't remember exactly - I use a Mac).

If you do have DRMed files you have 2 choices:
    1) burn them onto a disc and then reimport them into iTunes or,
    2) accept that you can't get them into iTunes.

Have a look at iLounge for loads of useful info.

I never use itunes, instead use a small, free prog called vpod.Much better, especially when using it with more than 1 ipod.

Now losing the will to live, I thought I had done ok as I have managed to get all my music on to itunes and then on to a shuffle... The problem is when trying to get music on shuffle no 2 & 3 . Itunes doesn't like them and keeps saying the ipods are corrupted.

Can anyone help ( I now hate ipods with a passion but have to persevere as the kids want to use them )

Forget that iTunes bloatware and try using Yamipod.
