Dealer charge for transfer of warranty - whats my play?

Afternoon all,

I've put a deposit down on a nearly new Hyundai i30 at a price and spec that is great at a fiat / volvo dealership/car supermarket.

I collect it at the end of the month and have just been sent the invoice.. one of the charges listed was £85 for warranty transfer .. I phoned the dealership and this indeed the case.

having just phoned Hyundai themselves the warranty travels with the car and is free its just a case of filling in the card at the back of the owners manual..

What is my play here do I flat out refuse to pay it or speak to them about it.

Contact the dealer and inform them that you will be doing the transfer yourself and could they remove the charge from the invoice.

There is also nothing mentioned about any fee in the warranty documentation.

Is the warranty transferable between owners?
Yes, providing the car is under five years old at the time of the sale. The balance of the warranty goes to the new owner, subject to servicing having been carried out at the recommended intervals.
I have just bought a used Hyundai that has warranty left on it. Do I get the balance of this cover?
Of course -- our Five Year Warranty is fully transferable between owners for the duration of the warranty. Simply complete the Change of Ownership card located in the back of your Service Record Book and send it back to us FREEPOST to have the warranty details updated. Alternatively, complete the form online.
