Laptop for business use

Thank you to everyone who has replied. I am lucky enough to work from home so don't need to take my laptop out with me on business. The reason I don't use a desktop pc is because I can't always be bothered to work from my office upstairs.
Think I would prefer to buy new, but reliable, especially as it goes down on business expenses anyway.0 -
I've bought seven Acer laptops in the last 2 years and yes, they don't have the very best build quality, but I've found them hard to beat when it comes to value for money. They've also been very reliable, 3 are office based and 4 are out on the road, which is more than I can say for two HP/Compaqs I bought that both suffered from overheating related problems. Personally I'm currently using an Acer Timeline 4820 which I find meets all my needs and has excellent battery life. What I would recommend is that you buy a laptop that can have the warranty extended, I don't know the exact costs from other manufacturers but you can pick up a 3-year collect & return warranty for an acer for under 50 quid.0

New and reliable dont always go together, as new items are not time tested, and coud have design flaws.
A second hand item, that has proven itself in the field to have no issues, can be a far better bet.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

How about Dell's Vostro 3550, starting at £349 + VAT + P&P? Quidco are currently offering 10% cashback on the Vostros as well. The Vostros are usually better built than Dell's consumer laptops, and the 3550 uses the latest Sandybridge CPUs.0
