Can receive but not send emails - help please

Had to set up my email accounts again after a virus and followed the instructions to the letter but now I find I can receive my emails no problem but I can't send any. I'm with Virgin.

Can anyone offer any advice, I'm not sure how to correct this.

Thank you :)

Are you using email 3rd party applications like Microsoft office outlook or something

If you are make sure the outgoing reply address is SMTP.virginmedia.com you can set this up if you are open outlook and click file account settngs you can either click repair and add the following

Note: if your email ends with NTLworld.com use that do not use Virginmedia

choose repair and add your email and details
click next and microsoft or whatever you are using will preform a test to connect and if it works it will download all your email to your application

In your mail settings also try setting it up as a pop with the following pop.virginmedia.com
    outgoing server:Pop.virginmedia.com or SMTP.virginmedia.com

Also check your machine with Malwarebytes for any adware that may be blocking your email connection from the current virus you had

Hope that helps if it dont contact virgin as it could be a fault on their end

Thanks for the advice. It's Windows Mail that I'm using and I've got it all set up with pop3 and smtp settings that you suggest. I just can't figure it out?

If it's windows mail as in the old version it may no longer be supported (I could be wrong on that one but i do remember reading it on a IT blog somewere)

Is your Firewall blocking your mail connection only thing i can think of
your best bet is to sign into webmail at virginmedia.com

Believe it or not, I have managed to fix the problem. When I went back and looked at all my settings, one of the figures looked odd to me and when I checked it was incorrect. I amended it and bingo! I am fair chuffed I've done it myself lol.

Thanks for all your advice guys.
