internet explorer problem - need advice

Have recently had a bad virus which meant starting from scratch again with my laptop. Installed everything again and was working fine but now almost every time I load a page I get a notice saying 'Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site etc'. Refreshing the page has got rid of it on one occasion but usually I just can't read the page. It was working fine before and I can't think what might have changed. Any advice would be welcomed as it's driving me nuts!

How have you rebuilt your laptop, you could still have a virus/malware.
Did you do a format and full reinstall?
What OS are you using, do you use a router to connect to the internet? To alcohol! The cause of... and solution to... all of life's problems!:beer:0 -

I'm not sure entirely what was done, my brother did it all. It was back to basics though - he knows his stuff so I'm confident the virus is gone. I'm using Vista and yes I do use a router. I also have a pc and another laptop connected wirelessly as well.0 -

Can use portable versions to test:

Ask your brother if he formatted the hard drive, and also if he wiped the MBR.0
