Inspired by one savings log on here I decided to create a log of my own to keep track of my savings over the years.
Having paid off all my credit cards last year, I started a Cash ISA this tax year, it's the first ISA I have which I don't plan to touch and just keep adding to it. So far I have managed to save £2,500 of my £5,340 allowance for this year.
I am planning to save into this ISA with the AA for the remainder of this year and plan to fill this by then.
I've also opened up two regular monthly saver accounts with West Bromwich Building Society (4.1%) and Northern Rock (4%) and saving the maximum £250 into each of these accounts.
I have put £1,000 into index linked saving certificates and have £1,100 in premium bonds with NS & I.
I want to put some away into a Stocks and Shares ISA for the longer term, and contributing £50 per month into a Interactive Investor account. Not sure about which shares or investments to go for though, so will just build that up as cash for now.
Through my company I am contributing into a Share Investment Plan at the rate of £125 per month, and have just started this. I'm thinking of the Sharesave next year too but may have to make a choice of one or the other then.

07/08/2011: Well after the battering the markets have taken lately, I'm not sure if this is wise or not. Perhaps I should just continue to save for the time being. decisions, decisions...
24/07/2011: Well I am undecided whether to invest in the stock market, I hear that it has reached it's peak and that shares are likely to go down over the next few years.
What should I do? I was thinking of investing £250 a month into a S&S ISA, but obviously don't want to invest if it is at the top. Looking at some charts for the following trackers it does appear that the prices are at the peak, so maybe this is a better time to stay out the markets and save.
Anyway I was thinking of the following funds...
£50.00 - L&G AS GBL EMG MRKS IND R GBP ACC
£37.50 - L&G UT Pacific Growth Trust R ACC
£25.00 - L&G UT US Index ACC
£37.50 - L&G UT European Trust R ACC
£100.00 - L&G UT UK Index ACC
I'm thinking this is quite balanced, as it covers the world indicies, and so believe my risks are spread, but again all the charts indicate that these funds are at the top price. Ooh don't know what to do now.0 -

I've been paying into a company pension scheme, which is final salary, for the past 13 years so I'm not to worried about my pension at the moment.0

Oh I beg your pardon, I got you confused with somebody else who had been trying to sort a pension.
Good work with your savings. You appear to be doing very well with it.
I'm trying to 'change my ways'. I do like to spend, but fortunately have never got myself into debt.0
