Hi there
I'm moving to a new place soon, just looking into broadband options.
I want o2 Home Phone & BB and I think the current tenants have Sky phone line & BB.
There is an active line in there but the website says "We need to put in a new line at your home. This will cost £86.81 and we'll add it to your first months' bill. We'll offer you some appointment times later on, as our engineer will need to visit."
Yet typing it into BT's phone checker service thing and it says we can takeover this line free with no engineer visit etc.
Sales rep on phone also said Sky can't be taken over.
Surely this isn't true as they're all BT's lines anyway??
Confused...Can anyone shed any light please? TIA.

The Sky Line has no doubt been unbundled (LLU) by Sky so its no longer a BT Line as such.
Technically its possible to do it but the vast majority of major ISP's can't be bothered.
BT would normally allow you to return it to them foc under the return to doner scheme buts its a 12 month contract.0 -
It's 'return to donor' (although given that many of us think that BT should not be running anything more complex than a kebab shop, your version may well be correct)...No free lunch, and no free laptop
