Council tax

This is from 2004 but it will always be in my mind.

My wife paid 3 council tax bills IN CASH (I know, I Know!)

A few month later we received a letter to take us to court for £1000 unpaid. We checked all paperwork and sadly we only had recepts for 2 of the bills (smaller amounts). So we had no way to prove we paid the £1000!! The CCTV apparently was not working that day!!

Lesson learnt, always get a receipt for cash.

Will be gutted always about this :(

So why bring it up again 7 years later???

Exactly. Always get a receipt for ANYTHING. Even if the CCTV was working, they probably won't have the tapes from 'a few months ago' and even if they did, it most likely wouldn't prove how much you paid or even if it was Council Tax that you paid.

So get over it, it was 7 years ago !!!!!!.

Nice. This is a vent board so that's all I was doing. The idea was just to encourage people to always get a receipt. It's easy to make a mistake and even after 7 years I'm allowed to still be upset. Totally unnecessary reply consider yourself reported. No need for it.

Well I've had to repay it so the account has been settled. I just wanted to remind all please don't be as stupid as me and always check your receipts. As I saidesson learnt. I was just venting and advising as nothing I can do about it . .

I know some paranoid weirdos who pay everything by cash, mortgage included (I'm amazed the bank lets them). At the end of the month, Mrs Paranoid goes down town, withdraws God knows how many hundreds of pounds in cash, then trails around town paying the utilities, the mortgage, the council tax etc. etc. She's a vile tax evading, racist, thieving hypocrite so (God forgive my wickedness) I live in hope she'll be robbed blind one day :o:D
