Hi i ve been using Belkin Pre-N range router for about 1 yr now - until recenly without any problems. i run 2-3 laptops off it. suddenly from around end of may (when apparently we have had a major issue with bt line in the area) the connection has not been as good. one moment - everything is ok, then suddenly it drops despite sayin local and internet - i cant connect to the internet, 1hr later simmilar story but then i need to reboot the router as cant connect without it. it happens a few times a day now. Not sure if it is related to the bt problem or perhaps my router packing up?
Any idea anyone?

Could be some other person has started up a wireless on the same channel.
You can use a wireless diagnostic like InSSIDer to see what other wireless networks are running, and on what channel. Then, just going into your modem config (e.g. http://192.168.0.1) and pick a channel that no one else is using.

I used to get that, found out it was BT Openzone (Think that's what the BT one was called) was overriding my wireless.Dunno how it fixed but I think a firmware update on my wireless box fixed it. (O2 Thompson II)0

Alternatively, see if the router is connected to the net if it happens again (i.e. by checking the appropriate lights, or logging into the interface and see yourself). If it is, then further differentiate by connecting one of the PCs via ethernet cable. If you still can't connect to the net (while the router is saying it has a connection), then it would suggest that the router is the problem.0

What are the machines doing when the connection drops?
Some routers throw a wobbly if you're using bit-torrent based programs (their ARE legal uses for this technology and some legit programs use it to distribute updates) they can flood a router with connection requests, this sometimes causes the router to hang. so you loose wi-fi and need to reboot it. Other times it freezes for a few mins till the connections drop off...Laters
