Plumbing Courses

Options
Hi there.
I'm considering enrolling on a Plumbing Course in the New Year with a company called New Career Skills.
Essentially the course would take about 3 to 4 months to complete.
I'd like to know if anybody has done a Plumbing Course with these people, and if so, any good?
Also, does anybody know if these skills would be realistically transferable after only 3 to 4 months. I'm not expecting to know everything, but i'd like to be able to combine these skills on occasion alongside my Landscaping Business.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

Interestingly, my local plumber told me he's training to be an electrician because the work's less messy and pays better!

Yes, a few months' training is a lot better than none. You'll at least be able to replace water valves and pipes, although you obviously won't be allowed to touch gas fittings.

Landscaping is not in high demand in winter (you probably noticed) but you might consider offering garden lighting. Stick with the low-voltage type that runs off a safety isolating transformer and you won't have to worry about wiring regulations.

You could combine this with installing water features (with or without lights) and the plumbing knowledge could come in handy.

There are also on-line courses such as this one proposed for "Digital TV Installers":

Another thought: decking with lighting is also very popular. Are you reasonably good with a saw, drill and hammer?

For what you need to do you may not need a full plumbing course.

See if you can find out about handyman courses or even sit in a plumbing module.

There are basic courses out there that will cost a lot less.

I already offer small plumbing and lighting services, but am interested in becoming a little more skilled so that i can indeed make some more money in the winter, though the way things are going with the weather, gardening is becoming a twelve month job!!
    Happy New Year.
