How Can I Convert PDF Files to Word Documents?

I have a job application form which has been sent to me as a PDF File. Is there any way that this can be converted to a Word Document so that I can type my application rather than hand-write it.
As it's unlikely I will need to do this again, I am reluctant to buy software.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just a thought (haven't tried it) but is it possible to open a postscript file in Microsoft Word as an editable file. If you can find this out the following might work.
You can open the pdf file in Adobe Reader and then select print and check the "print to file" box. However before this you will probably (unless you happen to have a postscript capable printer) have to go into control panel >printers and choose Add a printer (Don't let it search for a printer). Choose something like an HP laserjet 4000 series PS. You don't physically have to have the printer but it should install drivers and then appear as a driver choice. So now when you choose print in Adobe Reader select the new printer and as said before check print to file box.0 -
Do you have the latest version of adobe?
I haven't upgraded my version yet but when I was looking on a friends computer, I'm sure one of the options was "save as text"
Update:
Just did a quick search. it tells you how on acrobat 6 here:http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_faq.html#2
(I think you have to upgrade to Adobe6 first)0 -
Yup - if you have Adobe, you can cut and paste, annotate - pretty much anything you want.
If you are going from text to pdf - there are tons of utilities.
I have seen a couple of pdf2word. Search using pdf2word on google - plenty of hits!! Some are better than others - but all are pretty much okay.
I wrote a paper on this stuff a few years ago.0
