Scottish Power and "Right to Cancel" clause?

I just queried with Scottish power the details of our current contract (signed up with them in March 2011 after moving house, at the time there were more important things to worry about than gas upplier so we just kept up what was already there), and got the following email:
...

Your current service package is Discounted Energy
March 2012 which is not a fixed tariff, and
affected with price increase.

Your current product of Discounted Energy March 2012 is
due to expire on 29th February 2012. As part of this product
agreement there is a cancellation fee, however, by using
your Right to Cancel, you will not be charged this fee
should you wish to change supplier.

...

I'm now a little confused. Iwas/am awareof the £50 charge should we change supplier before March 2012, but this email seems to suggest I have the right to change supplier without penalty?

Any ideas about this - am I mis-reading?

(Either way I'm looking at an Npower deal which gives £80 cashback so would pay for the penalty and give us £30 left over...)

It's because of the price increase, they have to give you a chance to switch without penalty.

If, because of the price incresae, you wish to change supplier or tariff, SP have agreed to waive the early exit fee. (Terms apply... which will be included in your notification)
