Any solutions to this shower problem?

We're not allowed to make holes in walls or screw anything to them in the rental property we're staying in.
Fair enough, but the bath screen is tiny and the bracket the shower handset fits into, doesn't angle so the spray shoots (I use that word loosely as the shower is useless) directly down the length of the bath. That's if the handset is down at the bottom of the slider bar, if it's at the top, the spray goes over the bath. (You have to keep it at the bottom and lift off to wet yourself, hang it up again to wash then lift off to rinse etc.)
Absolutely impractical and useless set up.
I was thinking of buying an extending shower rail that just compresses between the walls, therefore stopping the spray going everywhere whilst also avoiding screw holes but I can't find a shower handset holder that angles and can be fitted to an already existing slider rail. Most need to be slid onto a rail rather than attached round it iyswim.
Any ideas?

Take the riser rail down. Slide the new handset holder onto it. Put the rail back up.

Really don't want to do that, the fittings are as old as the hills and don't look as if they would go back successfully. One of the plastic parts also has a sizeable crack in it and I'm fairly sure sheer blind faith is holding them all together.Herman - MP for all!0

Oh dear Mr Landlord your "old as the hills shower riser rail" is really on its last legs and I'm afraid its just going to disintegrate soon. Would you mind If I replace it?

If only it was that simple. Without going into details, every single thing needs to be put in writing and put before a committee that usually meets once a month if there is a lot on or every two months if not.
Far, far simpler just to find a flipping bracket. Found a suction job that might do if nothing else turns up.Herman - MP for all!0 -
If you use a suction thing, make sure you retighten it regularly as recommended in the instructions. I had some suction baskets and they fell down because I decided that piece of advice wasn't important!0
