Does anyone rate the new baxi bermuda bbu?

There seems to be a lot of negative opinions of this boiler.
I was wanting to get an overall picture of whether we should consider one.
So would be grateful if anyone had any opinions of the boiler in terms of
Price?
Quality?
Ease of fitting if you already have bbu?
Thanks!

I have just finished fitting one, well last Friday actually.
What a PITA it was.
Firstly it does not fit in the same sized opening as an existing BBU, unless the original is in a full sized builders opening. Second, the opening for it to be fitted is larger than the fire front covers.
The control display is supplied only with the electric fire front, forcing you to buy an over priced Valor fire and the aluminium cone and rope to pull the plastic flue liner down is around £50 when I thought a tenner would be over priced.
However you don't need any ventilation in the room, so no more cold draughts.
Wiring is simple, gas and water connections simple. They use 10mm plastic and speedfit 10mm elbows for the condensate drain and this will probably show on the skirting board.
Luckily the customer supplied the boiler etc, but I think I would run a mile if offered another one to fit!0 -

Thanks for you reply. Very helpful. So you would not recommend one.
We have looked at combi but it means running new gas pipes to kitchen at other side of house and we cannot afford major redecoration. Two of the floors are concrete and would need to be pulled up.
The back boiler would be situated about a meter from outside wall and I am hoping the condensate pipe can be ran behind TV so you won't see it much.
How long did installation take? Did you need to use scaffolding?0 -
i think they are very expensive for what they are.
id rather have a normal wall hung gas boiler and choose my own gas fire.Get some gorm.0 -
They seem ok but the price is quite high, you would need to get a new surround as well.
I would only get one if you really have no choice.X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.
Please don,t let this put you off.0 -
I shall watch this thread with interest as we have already decided that this will be our replacement when we need a new one.
Is the difficult to fit one the one thats advertised as a direct replacement for the older type with no need to replace/move anything else?
I did some reading on this a while ago and although i`ve forgotten most of what i read it did sound quite appealing.
We are another house with part concrete floors downstairs and no room to swing a cat in the kitchen - we are very happy with the boiler being behind the fire in the living room and would really like it to stay that way.
Hopefully it will be a good while before we need a replacement though.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
