Tv signal booster

I have a digital aerial in my loft which is split to come downstairs for the main TV and one feed into my daughters room

I can only get half of the channels due to the signal being weak and they often lose signal :( so was thinking about getting one of these booster things but which one and how do they work???

I also have TV built into my computer but when I split the aerial cable from my freeview box to go into my comp I have no signal unless i pull the connecter out of the freeview box and then i can get a few channels :(

So my few questions are:
how many of these booster things will I need?
What is the best type to get?
where is it best to put them?
can i also watch a video/dvd in all rooms of the house with one?
can i use one to get signal on a TV in my bedroom that has no aerial feed to it at the moment?
What is this going to cost me?

your help will be very much appreciated
