Tv signal booster

I have a digital aerial in my loft which is split to come downstairs for the main TV and one feed into my daughters room
I can only get half of the channels due to the signal being weak and they often lose signal
so was thinking about getting one of these booster things but which one and how do they work???
I also have TV built into my computer but when I split the aerial cable from my freeview box to go into my comp I have no signal unless i pull the connecter out of the freeview box and then i can get a few channels
So my few questions are:
how many of these booster things will I need?
What is the best type to get?
where is it best to put them?
can i also watch a video/dvd in all rooms of the house with one?
can i use one to get signal on a TV in my bedroom that has no aerial feed to it at the moment?
What is this going to cost me?
your help will be very much appreciated

Thanks :-)
Are you sure that would work as I don't have Sky Tv
and would I have to put it in the loft where the first split is or from my main telly downstairs where I want to split for my comp???:A0 -
I put mine at the aerial end and then put new cable runs to each socket with some digital grade cable I got from B + Q
and your are right that would do the job but this is actually better now I've checked

I think it might not work as I have just found this in the FAQ's
Q) Can this be used to boost Digital Terrestrial (freeview) Signals? -
A) no - it is a distribution amplifier not a signal booster:A0 -

This is the one I use in the loft:

Note the VERY low noise figure (1.4dB) and adjustable gain - you set it so the digital signal is high enough without the analogue signal swamping the tuner.
