I've had a letter from Egg refusing to supply me with a copy of my loan agreement because the account is now closed. I finished paying it in November 2009
I used Martins template letter and they replied "Egg are under no obligation to comply with a request for a copy of the executed agreement under the Consumer Credit Act as they no longer have a contractual relationship relating to this account" They also returned my £1 cheque!
Does this mean I can't proceed and claim the PPI back? Thanks.

You can just make a complaint OR send for a SAR from them. They are correct that they do not have to send a copy of the agreement when the account is closed BUT it does not stop you complaining.0

            Sorry but whats a SAR???0

It is where you send £10 and request all the info they hold on you.
Do you have the account number, did you have ppi on the loan?.
Then all you need do is look here for reasons for mis sell and if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

Thanks for your reply. From what I remember I applied over the internet and I think the box was already ticked. I do remember phoning them three times during the loan and twice I was told that I couldn't cancel it, however the third time I phoned was about 6 months before the loan ended and they agreed to cancel it, but they refused to refund it. Because the PPI was cancelled the loan was paid up a couple of months earlier.
I didn't have the account number but the letter I received today has the account number on it.
Do you think I can still claim back the PPI?0 -

I would say you can certainly complain. If the PPI was added automatically then you have a good complaint if you did not want it. ALso when they told you that you could not cancel the PPI is utter tosh..... you could/should have been allowed to cancel it.Thanks for your reply. If you have the account number and are confident that you did not opt for the PPI then you can complain now before receiving your SAR.0
