Driveway Issue

Hi All,
Hope some of you will be able to help rectify an issue I have.
I have recently purchased a new build property with a drive and garage around the back of the property, next to my drive is my neighbours drive and garage. Recently they had some issues with their drive and it had to be dug up, during this process the neighbours drive was re laid by block paving.
During this process, my drive was left a mess and had several scratches along the top surface, and down the connection in the middle. Due to the neighbours having block paving this has also devalued my drive and made it look poor.
I have asked the builders to replace the drive with block paving similar to the neighbours but they are refusing to do this, saying they are not willing to pay for it doing.
They are willing to resurface the affected areas. Is there anything I can do, to get them to block pave the drive.
Thanks in advance!

You don't say what your driveway is made of but I would imagine some kind of tarmac? I don't see why the builders should fork out for block paving when they are perfectly willing to restore your driveway to good condition.. if you want block paving then pay to have it put in.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Get them to put in a free block drive because you have a couple if scratches on yours. You are having a laugh aren't you.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
The best you can expect is for it to be brought up to the condition it was in before they started the work. If you are worried that it has devalued your drive then you may have to pay to have it done like theirs, maybe you can negotiate a small discount with the builders.
That said, if it was not done properly then you may well be having the last laugh 6 months down the line, I have seen some block paved driveways looking awful a few months after they were done!
As for making yours look bad, that is a matter of opinion - personally I prefter the look and durability of tarmac when it comes to driveways! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
