Argos 'customer service' bah!

Options
Just come home from a last minute shopping trip( I KNOW  ). I left a couple of things to the last minute as there are very nosy people in this house who find things.....

So I reserved the items at Argos- not the one nearest me - or the next one - or in fact the one after that. No! I didnt want to mess about and the only place that had both items was in a branch 20 miles away. OK - its not a problem - not much traffic and I accept that its my own fault for leaving it so late. So I get to the shop and find its not too thronged and the girl at the desk was friendly and helpful when I gave her the reservation number.I paid and went to wait

Thats when it started going wrong.A girl came and took the slip from me and went to look for the jewellry . I waited - and waited -other customers came and went and still I waited. The girl came back and said there was a bit of a problem but not to worry (I worried). then another woman came over and said there was a bit of a problem -the item was not in stock. I was not happy.
I said so. the woman offered a refund.Big deal. I said I wasnt happy (again) and explained that I had bypassed other shops in an effort to cut down stress. She said there was nothing she could do.I said she could compensate me for my needless travel and trouble. She said I was STUPID(for asking for the thing I had reserved and PAID for  )

I asked for the manager and she went to get him -saying I was stupid AGAIN over her shoulder as she went.Eventually he came. I said I wasnt happy and again laid out exactly how much trouble this caused me. He then said I could have another -slightly more expensive-item instead and went off.

I didnt get a chance to tell him of the rudeness I had been subjected to in front of other customers . I was left to the tender mercies of the server. Finally -after another prolonged wait I did get the (second choice)jewellry I wanted. So I was sort of happy at the outcome but now Im home I am so blazing mad at that woman. I was polite-though insistent at all times and there was no need for it.

Does anyone think there would be any point in persuing this with head office?

Based on my own experiences of being messed around by Argos, I'd suggest taking it further would probably get you a £10 Argos voucher. Your call if that's worth going for.

Did you get more expensive jewellery at the price you would have paid for the one that you had wanted but were unable to get?

I think to be honest that I would leave it at that, I realise you have had a bad experience but its Christmas!
