I would like to second that about getting i in writting but at the same time i would feel cheeky asking someone who has let you off with a £350 to do it.
Do you know this guy well? is he a laid back type of guy who will just shrug it off or will he cast it up in the future?0 -
"Thanks for letting me off and not making a claim.
Will you put it in writing in case you change your mind, you have your chance and you blew it, and I don't want to pay any more."
"Oh, you want me to pay now instead?"0 -
I don't think he realised how much it would cost to repair until he got the quote.
I don't think I can ask for the fact that I haven't paid in writing but if I do pay then I'd rather pay the garage directly than hand over the cash.
I don't know the car owner at all but they have been very nice about it, probably because I was honest. Had they found out on CCTV it may have been different.MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0 -

This is complete rubbish. There is no claim limit on third party claims. The insurers are legally liable for every penny of damage caused by an insured driver to anyone else's vehicle. Only damage to their own vehicle may have a limit or excess which the hirer may have to pay.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

I was joking about asking for it in writing hence the LOL. It would be nice obviously but if he has said hes not going to worry about not much more you can do about it, a nice bottle of wine or something as an apology maybe more apt!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Why don't you go and see him, explain you really want to pay for repairs, appreciate his gesture and suggest a bodyshop provides a quote and you pay for repairs that way. Will probably be cheaper than the main dealer's price and neither of you will have to live with seeing the damage every day.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I am sceptical about the response regarding the insurance - I've asked to see a copy of the documentation and am not driving any hire cars until I'm confident I'm properly insured. Really this should all be covered by my employer and the hire car company.
I may suggest getting another quote although based on work I've had done before I don't think it is a bad price.MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0 -
Is the person you hit a manager/director of the company? If so as he knows he'll be paying for it anyway i.e they are paying the excess that maybe why he isn't too bothered about getting it sorted right now as ultimately he will be paying for either way.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

No, he is a manager but not the manager/owner if that makes sense. It would make no difference to him at all if I claimed on the insurance.
I may be being naive but I think he just feels sorry for me as I have been so honest (when I didn't need to be) and apologetic.MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0 -

No it's not, most fleets self insure all claims up to about the first £500 to £1000.
You're getting confused with your own insurance.0
