This company quoted me conveyancing through one of these comparison websites and they're much cheaper than a lot of the quotes we've seen. Does anyone know what they're like, whether they're any good? I've already been put off one solicitors that quoted from reviews on this site, but I can't find any reviews of these people. Part of my issue is that they're in no way local to us, (currently London/Essex borders) so there's no way of having face-to-face contact.
Any thoughts welcome, as moving house is expensive enough so if i can save, i really need to!
thanks

They have been on the other side to us (solicitors) on a few matters and have always seemed competent etc, sorry it's not from a "customer" point of view but hope this helps.0

conveyancing is not face to face, it is all done remotely by post and email as it is very slickly done these days in a few letters, the main thing being you get a bound Report explaining all the legal papers - well many lconveancers send you a trickle of letters which confuses clients...we do a slick bound report.
conveyancing is a legal job, yet you do not mention who is actually going to do your work...the cheaper it gets the more unskilled the person.
get a solicitor or legal executive every time, and if the firm simply shours how cheap they are going to do your important house move, then walkMy posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:
My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o0 -
Sorry to jump on the back of your thread, but was also looking at using Birchall Blackburn solicitors for my purchase? Have you decided to go with them? Can anyone else offer any comments?
They seem to be cheapest and I'm sure you get what you pay for, but I'm not in a major rush so as long as they get the job it could help me save a few more pennies.0 -
Hi
(My first post BTW)
Myself and my fiancee are currently using the services of BB and they seem to be very efficient and friendly, we had our offer accepted on the 23rd of July and they have already got the contract from the seller and are currently conducting the necessary searches, i dont know if they are fast, as im a FTB but they seem to be speeding though it from my point of view anyway.
Sorry im not much help but hope it gives some insight into their services.

I find that they were completely useless i work as an estate agent sales neg and progresser i have dealt with bad solictors but these are the worst they never return calls etc then i finally get hold of them and the lady i spoken too new very little on an important case anyway long and short of it the sale fell through :mad:0

I'm currently using them and they seem to be efficient so far - we've no had any problems getting in touch with our solicitor (by email) and someone else looked at our file while she was away. They can't seem to get to grips with 'reply all' but then again, this seems to be a widespread problem...
We haven't exchanged or completed yet, so my opinion may still change .. although I hope not!You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0 -
I would avoid them like the plague. Our house sale is going through, and our buyer is using them. They don't return our solicitor or estate agents calls, they didn't start the searches until 7 weeks after the offer was accepted when all other solicitors in the chain were good to go, and now 2 weeks later they say they are still waiting for the searches, despite all the other solicitors getting theirs back in days.0

4 months ago I agreed to sell a 12year old freehold house . My buyer used this company .there is no chain. They are slow and careless . As the weeks go by they dream up new enquiries , one following another and another and another ,each reducing in relevance. If the person with the file goes off sick or on holiday everything is left on hold until their return. If you have to use them, try asking for the name and direct line of the person who will be looking after you !
We will probably have to give up the sale as we can't go on like this.0 -

Totally Agree avoid no calls no contact and a snail would work faster. They are not interested and will only email if they have too. There is no contact to advise where you stand. They are faceless and cold. Avoid for your own sanity.0
