Pay off large debt with card - DD change?

Hi
I have £1000 in debt with British Gas for electricity (problem from 3 years ago which is now sorted)
I have just changed my tarrif to a cheaper one which has changed instantly however my DD each month is still £116. I have just got a 0% credit card for 19 months and wondered if it would benefit me by paying off the debt with my card and therefore reducing my direct debit charge per month? I know I will still be high on the charge and will have to pay the cc but can change that to an amount that suits better.
Am I better doing that or sticking it out. We have storage heaters in our 2 bed flat and so our costs always seems to be high. Changing to gas isnt an option either so Im stuck with them just now.
Thanks in advance
