Help! Washing maching just gone bang!

Options
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius washing machine i had just put a load in switched it on, i could hear it working - turned my back to walk out of the kitchen and there was a loud bang! The machine will not do anything tried switching it on again and nothing, the door will open and there is some water inside the drum:confused:

Is there anything i can do or has it completley broken? The machine is approx 8yrs old.

The interlock is keeping the door shut.
It may open after some time once the power to the machine is cut.

A loud bang usually means either water has come in contact with the electrics and short circuited it or a module has blown.

First thing to do is disconnect it from the power.
After which you should be able to pull it out and get at the drain to empty the water. Not sure where it willl be on this model could be at the front or the back near to the bottom of the machine.

Given its 8 years old it may not be worth fixing, personally i would take the opportunity to replace it during the sales.
  • Thankyou and Merry Christmas.

If there is water in the drum the door wont open. Pull the machine out & lower the out let hose into a bucket until the drum is empty & the door will open.
As for the bang it could be anything ,motor, module, heater or even the in line capacitor. Switch the power off & look for some black blast marks etc. Otherwise there is not much you can do without test equipment.

    Merry Christmas.
