Memory cache & W98

I have just put a 1gb memory card into my computer and now I can't use W98 I know I can change the ini file but where do I find it please.Am running two hard drives one with XP the other with 98 (still got some old bits that need 98)Have read MS info sheet but still can't find the file.
Any help appreciated.

Albertross,
the monitor screen won't light up. I gathered it was something to do with 98 and memory above 512.Run XP no problem but need to find how to find the ini file to change the cache.

try ts_aly's suggestion, XP and or 98 safe mode should let you in there to edit windows\system.ini

Or you could load the 98 into a virtual pc under XP, to run the odd old app.

If you haven't found that file yet - it's a file just named System and it's in
C>Windows

In my Windows98SE it is a 2KB file described as Configuration Settings.

You can open and edit and save it using notepad.

Is there anybody out there who has actually managed to get Windows 98SE to work with more than 1GB of RAM?
