Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. You seem to be suggesting that I am not happy with what I have, and therefore am always commenting on what you are doing.
My critisism of you is that you get quite a lot of things wrong and that you seem to persist in telling the forum, in quite a lot of detail about your good fortune. Now that sounds like boasting to me. Earlier, you did tell me that I don't have much to boast about (I might, or might not have, but I choose not to). Now although you obvisouly think that I'm jealous, or would like me to be jealous, I can honestly say that I am not jealous of anyone, let alone you. The reason that you (and a few others) attract my attention is that they boast, or are full of themselves. This is not a very nice trait in my opinion, and I think a few others would agree that boasting, and trying to put down others who may not have as much wealth/possession as others is a rather unpleasant characteristic. Now, you may say, quite rightly, that this is an open forum, and therefore there is nothing wrong with behaving like this. I'd agree, there is nothing wrong with it, but don't complain if others like myself have a "pop" at you for doing so.
I know people that a far wealthier than myself, and certainly more wealthy than you. They mostly seem like pleasant individuals (although they may "big it up" on anonymous forums for all I know). I also know people that don't have the wealth that I have, but there is no way I would belittle them or try to make them feel jealous by telling them how much money I have in the bank, or equity in my house. It would just make me look like a Richard.
LOL. Yes you have just convinced me, with all that text, that you are clearly not bothered if people are doing well in their life plans and happen to mention it on anonymous forums. :rotfl:0 -

Good.
You have convinced me that you are looking for recognition of your "gamble" which is currently paying off. I recognise it, and so do most other here, well done. :beer:30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Now if you extend your new insight into congratulating others who are doing well in their life plans, commiserate with others who have problems and perhaps even suggest to the former how they could further improve matters or suggest to the latter how they could turn things around then you might understand what this MSE forum is actually supposed to be for.
This is supposed to be a community of like-minded people who have financial aims, keep blogs on these aims, seek advice or give advice on these aims and generally encourage each other in their goals. Just because you and a few others have turned it into some sort of gladitorial forum, doesn't mean thats how others see it.0 -

The first bit of advice I had from you wasn't very good, was it ?
Still, we eventually sorted that out.
I didn't think this part of the form was so much about giving advice, as much as debating house prices and the economy. Some of my "battles" with you can certainly not be regarded as sticking to the agenda, but neither can publishing the latest details of your mortgage balance. Isn't there a "Mortgage-Free Wannabe" section for that sort of thing ?30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Ha ha ha ha ha
It's debate. The title is debate.
Debate normallly has differing opinions. On here, it's mainly constant warfare. It's why this thread is here, is it not? You knew it would provoke the reaction it did.

Although it led to jealousy oozing out of his screen, apparently.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Indeed, and warfare relies on having an enemy to fight. It's easy to find targets around here. If you don't want to be a sitting duck, keep your head down.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

I have never given you advice, that's not what you are here for. I gently ribbed you about DYOR (Doing Your Own Research) when you were in an argument with someone else about inflation linked savings. Believe me, I have regretted it ever since because you turned it into a personal vendetta that you still contine to today.
For the record, I am so sorry that I tried to make a jokey comment in what was obviously one of your many heated arguments with people on here. I walked into it with my eyes closed because prior to that I had had no issues with anyone on here.
Since I 'stepped on your toes' I have geneer dogging my steps, you dogging my steps and because you both are 'bears', my erstwhile pal, Graham felt he had to take sides and chip in.
I do so wish I hadn't come across you DervProf.0 -

"Jokey comment" ? Was it really ?
I'm glad to see that you now realise that geneer and myself are actually two separate people. That's more like it.
I don't know what to make of your last comment. I know you have got quite upset in the past (and at one point I think there were allegations of me stalking you !). Come on man, it's an internet forum where there are strong conflicts of opinion and interest. We all know that most of what we type here will not change anything. We all know that it can get a bit "heated". You know that if you type certain things you'll attract certain responses. Isn't this what it's all about ? As I`ve said before, I haven't been "nasty" to you, or wished ill on you (even though you once twisted my words and accused me of that). I really think that there are other posters who are far more "venomous" than myself toward other posters.
Seriously, if it is support, or congratulations that you want, then this is not really the forum to be in. Certainly not if you keep repeating you request for recognition of you financial success. Like I said earlier, it seems like outright boasting, and that is asking for attention that you might not like.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Goodness me, that explains a lot.
