Motorola V3 Edge went through washing machine

"Someone" put their phone through the washing machine. It was successfully dried out and now works.

However battery life is now down to one day from a week and a brand new genuine battery does the same.

Any ideas apart from leaving the phone turned off when it's not needed?

Hmmm maybe not fully dry? I mean possibly inside the aerial enclisure or some other seemingly sealed 'bit'. Otherwise it may be time to either upgrade, or accept your battery life is now the length of an iphone battery ;-)

Might have something to do with limescale and other residues in the water (washing powder/liquid and fabric conditioner probably won't have helped either!)... the water may have dried off, but the residues are still there and that's possibly what's playing havoc with some circuits. Given that it's gone trough the wash, I'd have soaked it in de-ionised water first to try and clean it out as much as possible before leaving it to dry out.
