buy some more ram https://www.crucial.com and get rid of any unnecessary programs in your startup http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.mspx
https://www.ccleaner.comEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Sometimes you just can't get a Lada to do 150MPH - you need to get a new car

How old is the laptop, how slow is slow? If its over 2 years old, it will seem slow compared to most PCs or laptops now.
Increasing RAM is a good idea f you only have 256 or 512 Meg, as when your PC runs out of phydsical emmory it starts to use the hard drive as an overflow (virtual memory). This is where your PC can really slow down.0 -
HAs it suddenly slowed down or are you just trying to make sure it is in tip top condition.
I run the following CLean Up program that clears out rucks of junk followed by a visit to windows one care.
Clean Up - https://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/index.html
Windows - http://safety.live.com/site/en-NZ/default.htm
Both are free to use.0 -
If you are running Windows XP you can free up RAM/speed it up somewhat by opting to do without all the fancy new look & feel stuff (shadowing etc).
Right-click on My Computer, go to the Advanced tab, click the settings button in the performance frame and select "Adjust for best performance".0
