Problem Installing MS Fixit

I had this program installed but when I went to use it as part of routine maintenance it wanted an update. The update wouldn't load so I uninstalled and tried to re-install. I get the message "an unexpected error has occurred. please exit setup and try again later".

I've done a regedit on the MSI Install entry and found it was corrupt so corrected it.

I've run SFC Scannow

System information shows a fault in MSI14b.tmp but that should have been corrected by SFC Scannow.

Anybody any ideas how to correct whatever is stopping me installing this useful little application?

You could try uninstalling .net framework, then try installing the other programme, then re-install .net framework

Have you looked for the file by clicking start then run, type %temp% then press enter

No the file is not in the temp directory. I'm not sure about uninstalling ,net framework. This programme installed ok a month ago. Something is preventing it from doing so now. All google searches have shown that others are having a similar problem but havne't yielded a fix. Which is why I'm asking our resident experts.

that's the fella.. MSICUU2.exe google and download. Uninstalls programmes before the normal installer asks if you're sure you want to uninstall.

I used Revo to uninstall and ran CC Cleaner as a failsafe.

Gut feeling is that this is not the issue. The program was only uninstalled because I was getting the error message. In any case Microsoft have withdrawn Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe) because it caused issues with other programs.

There is a simple answer to this gentlemen. Somewhere.

I believe I have found the answer. MS Installer was not running. I have corrected it in MSCONFIG. when I next reboot I'll try to install the product.

Closed - there are no particular underlying issues. Nothing which causes me concern. There must have been something yesterday but I got diverted by this issue.
