How does this warranty look?
Hi,
I'm in the process of buying a 55 plate 330D M Sport with just over 61k on the clock. It's from a trader and as such comes with a basic 3 month warranty. I've managed to haggle the extension of this to two years (cost of £600) in to the price of the sale with a few other bits and peices for £100.
I was going to go for the BMW comprehensive warranty though it work's out twice as expensive over the two years. Though it does include breakdown cover and emergency service etc.
I've copied some of the what is & isn't covered details below. It's a zero excess with a £1000 claim limit per claim.
How do you think it looks?
With the potential for big bills a warranty is a good idea.

£1000 claim limit on a BMW... Ouch!!! Top the washers up and change a fuse?
So the clutch is covered except fair wear and tear so its not really covered is it?
Brakes are covered except for any reasons they are likely to fail on?
Wheel bearings are covered but wheel bearing hubs are not. Bit of a play on words?
Any fault reported during servicing??
Bigger list of NOT covered that it 1st appears.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Not really. If you whack a kerb you can bend the hub.0 -
£1k on a 330d might just about remove and refit the cylinder head, except..
And here's the all important sentences which means you might as well have a dirty weekend on your £600.

if the warranty covered the turbo alone it would be worth it but the getout clause is not good from owners perspective
coveredTurbo Unit – Turbo unit including wastegate.
not coveredAny consequential component damage caused by excessive heat or overheating0
