Breakdown Cover

Does it bump the price up if two people living in the same household drove their own car plus they were allowed to drive the other persons car

It depends on the breakdown company, some cover the car, so anyone driving it is covered, and some cover the person, so any car they are driving(or passenger in) is covered.
In your example if the car is covered both drivers are covered, if the driver is covered both cars are covered, although if you cover the driver(s) you will need 2 policies. so any "bump up" will only be if you need the 2 policies.

I have joint personal cover from the AA which covers you and another named person (has to live at same address) in any car, yours, hers or anyone elses. its a bit more expensive to have joint cover than single cover, but cheaper than having seperate cover each.

I was under the impression Autoaid covered the driver for any car, therefore for 2 drivers to be covered would warrant 2 policies?

  • Almost - Autoaid covers the person not the car.
But here's the best bit - Spouse cover is included free. :j

    From Martin's comments

    "The Overall Winner. ....

.... The price is stunning. For £32 a year, it insures the person not the car, meaning vehicle age, mileage and reliability are irrelevant, plus caravans & trailers are included. It also includes free cover for a spouse (must be married not just cohabiting) or in a civil partnership with a certificate. "

I have a motorbike and that is covered too, so we have 2 cars but 1 bike covered for £32.

I really don't think you can beat this.
