Being made Redundant after Interview - Help ?

Sorry, I was under the impression that the OP had been asked to decide whether to go now or work their notice period.
I do think it is important for people to check their contracts, as I have seen so many mistakes made that result in people not getting what they are entitled to. I'm sure I'm not alone.0 -

Sorry just one more question if anyone can help ?
I have found out now that although there were four full time equivalent jobs advertised and that was what was on the restructure notice - an extra part time position has been created so 4 full time and one part time position have been given out. There was only one part time person who applied for the role,

I guess I am clutching at straws ! I just wondered if that was all above board to say that only 4 full time positions were required and after the interviews increase it to 4 and a part timer ?If everything happens for a reason - I wish someone would hurry up and tell me the reason !:)0

Was the part-time post designed after the 4 full-time ones had been allocated?
Were only part-time staff told of the opportunity?

- I understand part time post was given out with the 4 full time ones
- The part time person applied for one of the full time jobs hoping the company would split a job and then someone would accept part time rather than be out of a job
- I may have considered part time if that was all that was on offer

In that case - are you certain of oyur facts? Everyone applied for an was interviewed for the same jobs at the same time. Who says that you scored highly enough to have beaten the part-time person for the part-time post? There isn't anything here that says that you scored highly enough to be offered any post - full-time or part-time. I'm sorry, but you need more than this. The part-time person did not apply for the part-time role - they applied for the full-time one hoping to get a split, but without any guarantee of it. So the part-time post appears to have not been treated any differently from any other post.0

I am sorry you are going through this. However advice from an employers perspective. Stay in your present job, ask for feedback that will help you in your search for a new job. Wind down your current job with dignity. Reinforce your own belief, that you are one of lifes good guys, colleagues who have valued you will be supportive, even if they cannot change your situation.
The decision makers have not selected you for a post. They should have been objective, but may not have been. They are satisfied that they have followed a soind process and have made the best decision in the companies interest.
There is no reason for you to forgo 3 months pay. Dig deep inside yourself and make the best plan you can for getting through the next few weeks.

I've had to work six months in a similar situation when others still in post and I got made redundant and I detracted myself from the job for my sense of mental well being - once the shock has gone - work your notice and get the money and start to look and plan what to do for the future. Go for training courses and careers advice - next steps are very helpful, sort out if you need what benefits you can get, plan and look and enrol in as many job sites and employment agencies.
I had to ride the storm and just made sure i set myself up before I left.... dont make yourself ill just think you are fab and move onto other things. I decided that they had been so awful to me that i certainly didnt want to work with them any longer!!!Get yourself out there and make sure you ask people for references as well.
i can assure you that life is brighter on the other side and this is the second week of my new life xxx0
