HomeTeam 50 from Npower

Hi All

Just signed up for Price Protector with £100 cashback, switching from SP (annual saving of roughly £100 and no price rises until July 2012 :)).

The aforementioned boiler care looks decent, I live in a newbuild so expect nothing to go wrong with the boiler but the 2 year grace period for ANY niggles is up in March so better to be safe than sorry, and at £10.50 x 12 x 50% cashback (£63) for boiler cover and a service (which cost me £90 alone a few months back :o) seems like a damn good deal?

Obviously I am aware if I claim it's £50 per repair and no cashback, but that is a max cost of £176 for a year for full cover and boiler service.

This seems reasonable, am I missing something? :rotfl:

    Hi dannymccann

    Don’t worry
, you're not missing anything. With Hometeam 50 you get services including an annual service, unlimited call outs, including parts and labour and 50% cashback if you don't make a call out.

You can check out what's available - and what you'll be covered for - in the market if you look at a number of online comparison sites such as http://www.uswitch.com/boiler-cover/central-heating-cover/.

    Thanks
    Sally :)

All I would say Dannymccann is please search these forum threads before committing to a contract, you can then make a decision but it is usually a safer bet and less hassle to put some money away and use a trusted local engineer if and when needed ;)

    Hi All

max cost of £176 for a year for full cover and boiler service.

Max £176 is wrong, what if you have 2 repairs? £226
    also npower use subbies.....

Granted, correct, but as the boiler is only 1.5 years old and when serviced 3 months ago the engineer claimed it looked like new, my assumption was that it would only go wrong once in a yearly period ;)

RE: local traders, again yes I agree, but I tried this last time, they quote me £65 incl VAT for a service and then when the bill arrives through the post 2 weeks later it's hiked up to £90 (safe to say it became due over 2 months ago and as they never replied to my query as to why the price was different I still haven't paid it and theyhaven't chased for it yet, so at the moment it was free :j)

Meggsy - you sound like you've had your fingers burnt, care to share?
