OS Daily Thursday 7th

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 7th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
It rained overnight so no need to water the veg this morning. I'm about to cook breakfast for hubby, make the packups & then take him to the station.
Tea tonight is lamb chops, I bought some that were reduced yesterday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow,
Lots of rain overnight here as well and it was really windy too, at least it stayed dry for OH and Ds to enjoy the cricket.
Last night I went to a dance show at DD1s school, it had all sorts of dance in it from ballet to street dance and it was really good. DD2 came with me and she really enjoyed it too which is great as she gets bored quite easily!
Work today and then a cup of tea and a catch up with a good friend.
Hugs to those who need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning Hester, Moorhen and everyone.
It rained heavily overnight and it was very windy. Rain has stopped now but it is still very overcast. So, just the polytunnel to water:)
Ate our first tomato yesterday. It was bursting with flavour. I foresee a full-time occupation processing tomatoes once we get to the end of term.
Dinner tonight is steak with dauphinoise potatoes, green beans and broccoli, with pizza for the boys.
Have a good Thursday peeps and hugs for those who need or want.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning everyone
Cloudy and wet underfoot as we had heavy rain during the night. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
I'm up earlier than usual as new fridge freezer is being today and I'm first delivery - between 7am - 9.30am, will be pleased to get the new one in place so I can get sorted - everywhere feels a mess.
DS2 had a good day at the senior school, except he's been offered a place at a 1 week summer school just to give him that extra help before the new term starts, I'm more than happy for him to go if I can organise childcare to get him there etc whilst I'm at work - he's really not happy about going, but I know he does need the extra help.
Dinner last night was pork chops, boys had theirs early and DH and I ate once I'd got back from the senior school meeting. DS1 made an apple crumble at school yesterday looks great, so we're having that for dessert tonight not sure yet what we're having for mains though. Have done an online shop that will be delivered 3-5pm tomorrow - thought this was help me maximise the time I have as seem to have a huge "to do" list.
Have done practically no "flying" this week so need to get going with that. We're going away Sat morning just for 1 night, so need to organise clothes etc for that too. Tins are empty so need to do some baking/cooking.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Quite wet here too, nice and fresh at the moment.
Have mainly an office day planned today. Did a lot of running about yesterday so aim to stay mainly in the house.
Just about to put some gammon in the slow cooker which we will be having with mash, carrots and cauliflower cheese later.
Thats it for me, short and sweet :rotfl: have a great day.x0 -
Morning all,
I see there is good news from mummysaver :j I will leave her to tell you the details, but all seems well, well done Nic :j:T
Been raining off and on all night, and very grey looking today, off to work for me, soooo busy though before I know it the day has gone, and I'm back home.
Dinner tonight is oven fish and chips and peas, just bung it all in the oven, so nice and quick, sainsbugs also delivering tonight.
DD and I went chasing after a job for her last night, only to find it did not exist, but heard of another one which we need to go and see about, honestly, I would never have thought it would be so hard for a teen to get a job.
Ok better get on, hugs where needed xx0 -
Morning all.......
note to self: dont wait for a month and a half before doing the next big grocery shop!!!! Drove 45 mins to nearest big supermarket yesterday.....took me ages as list was so long , finally made it to checkout with hands full and things falling left, right and centre from trolly.......took forever to pack and load into bags with people tut, tuting as they waited.......then out to car and load it.......38 degrees by now and Im hot!.... Drive to nearest coffee shop for much needed caffine fix , buy salad and sandwiches for lunch to take home......run to book store.no new english books in.run to store for army socks for ds....none of his size in stock.......look in store for plain everyday tshirts for me......yes you guessed..none today......
Drive home....lug shopping into house with dh who came home for lunch....freezer stuff away eat lunch and go to bed for two hours,,,wake up to find shopping fairy has not put shopping away so that takes another hour, tidying cupboards as I go....and breath
Anyway new day today, dh work clothes out in sun drying, next wash on.....and I started the day cleaning the cupboard under the sink..onr of those jobs that after you spend less then half an hour doing it you wonder why you have been putting it off for the past six months!
Need to get house in shape for weekend so will try the 15 min. bust cleaning today
Happy thursday all.......0 -
Morning all
Just having a browse before bed. One more night to go, am sitting on the sofa with my lovely cats.
Just read the thread about HM yoghurt, used to do this years ago as one of my Indian friends taught me, using a thermos flask. Think I will have another go at it as I'm never quite convinced that shop bought yoghurt is ok it always seems to be full of added c**p.
No idea what's for tea tonight, will see what I fancy when I get up.
Have a good day all and big hugs to those who need one.

Morning all
Sorry haven't posted in ages but still read every day
Congratulations Mummysaver:j
Hugs and good wishes to everyone else where appropriate
Well things have been really stressful lately here because of the financial mess that soon to be ex other half left me in when he left. Still trying to sort things out but it is going to take such a long time.
Anyway, on a lighter note DD2 had an interview yesterday for a promotion at work and I have heard from a reliable source (DD1 who is a Manager at the same place, but had to opt out of interviewing her for obvious reasons) that she did a fantastic interview and should find out tomorrow if she has it - fingers crossed! She and her boyfriend are moving back in with me next weekend for a little while. This will both help me financially (god knows I need it!) and also give them the chance to save up for a deposit for a house, they are renting at the moment and have decided that it is money wasted so want to buy their own.
Day off work today and then only half a day to work tomorrow then I have a week off work. Going to spend some of the time off emptying the wardrobes in the spare room ready for them moving back - at the moment it is full of ex's stuff which he hasn't moved as he says that half the house is his so he can keep things here if he wants. Suppose he is right in a way however they will be now kept in binliners in the loft!:D Will be glad when I can eventually cut all ties with him as he has been a real Pra*t!
DD1 is trying to sort out her finances at the moment to see if it would be possible to buy him out - again fingers crossed please!
Anyway enough moaning from me, hope you all have a good day, will try to keep posting more often, but hate only coming on to moan and tbh not alot else to talk about just now:o
Oooh sorry OS content - have just picked the last of my raspberries and had them with yoghurt for breakfast. Lots of little tomatoes coming through but none ready yet. My OS consists mainly of trying to have as many NSD as possible just now, even the breadmaking has stopped as I finally have had my coeliac disease confirmed and now get bread and pasta etc on prescription. One thing sorted at least thank goodness!
