Should I be Charitable to Royal Mail?

if you claim, I can only assume you will be refunding your buyers the cost as at the end of the day they were the ones who suffered. so I can only imagine thats why you would be claiming and not for pure personal gain out of the situation,0

Hi there, have you got a link to the form, or did you pick it up from the post office? Found this one on the webiste but seems to be for claiming compensation for for lost items

Also didnt realise you had to claim within 14 days, are they strict about it? As its quiet, i was planning to go through and check the last few months worth for late deliveries (i know theres been a few), i spend plently with them so would mind get a little back! :cool:seb76 wrote:if you claim, I can only assume you will be refunding your buyers the cost as at the end of the day they were the ones who suffered. so I can only imagine thats why you would be claiming and not for pure personal gain out of the situation,
I'd be claiming for myself unless the buyers asked about it, its definately about personal gain or i wouldnt be selling on ebay!0 -
the link to the new form was on royal mails website, although maybe that is just for lost items, but i thought it was similar to the form i had from the post office which was for all claims - loss, damage, delay etc
you don't have to claim within 14 days, you have 1 year to claim i believe
they wont accept claims for loss unless it is 15 working days since posting0 -
It's great how a little discussion clarifies your thoughts.
If I do claim it will be for my benefit I'm afarid with 30-40 possible claims I just wouldn't bother otherwise. I spent hours emailing customers explaining what was happening and had some very nice personal emails back. I literally spent Thursday and Friday doing nothing else and had to hang around all day Saturday just in case there were any more problems. So my customers are happy as larry with my service which is all that really matters at the end of the day.0 -
There would be no hesitation on my part if I was in your position, Let's face it you paid for a service that you didnt get. If your customers request it back then give it them back, they are obviously happy with the service you provided whereas you are not. The only reason that we sell products on EBAY/Amazon is to make money/extra money, here is an opportunity for you to make some. I work out that you can get £140 - £160 pound refunded. I have done the forms myself and when you get into them it takes 15 mins max. At £4.50 a form that is nearly £20 an hour (tax free), think of it like that and then see if you can be bothered to claim!!! Think of it as a Christmas bonus, your customers have had a good deal from you otherwise they wouldn't have bought the product. Get in there.Up the Rams !!0

as i said you shouldnt even have to fill in a claim form, you should just be able to phone them with the tracking numbers, or maybe email them.
although if they do require you to fill in claim forms get a multiple one instead as it will be so much quicker, just need to put your address once then list tracking numbers and recipients addresses0 -
WOrk out the profit you must have made by selling all that stuff. Do you need more money for yet more hassle.
Its Christmas, let it go and enjoy yourself.
You sound stressed out to me, working 18 hours a day for three weeks or whatever. Chose Life, stop looking at the profit and loss account and enjoy the fruits of your labours.“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -
I will be submitting 2 claims for £18.50 special delivery charges. One arrived a day late, and the other arrived at 2pm. If my buyers ask for the refund, I will pass it on to them, if not, I will keep it.
Go ahead and claim.0 -

I did a track and trace over the phone on Friday for a SD item that was not delivered on Thursday. The guy on the phone told me that it was delivered before 1pm on Friday. When I told him that was a day late, he said I would need to complete a claim form - he could not do it over the phone.0 -
Hintza - I can understand why you could do with a rest but maybe you could could write them a letter telling of the number of SD items that have not arrived on time. As Soo has said they do need to have it pointed out to them and they are likely to offer some recompense.0
