Shower tray blocked and there's MOSS in the water

Hope someone can advise. My Dad's shower tray water isn't draining away and there's some moss in the water. This just started today after a heavy rainfall and I was wondering if moss could have fallen down the vent (on the outside wall) and blocked it .
He hadn't used the shower just run water in bathroom sink!!
thanks in advance

Caustic won't work for this, It sounds as if your shower drain is connected to an external rainwater downpipe. It is probably choked at the bottom and with the heavy rainfall it has backed up. Clean out the trap at the bottom if one fitted and then put springs up the downpipe to clear if it is the pipe itself. It is fairly common for this to happen in heavy rainfall HTH

    many thanks for quick reply.
My dad phoned me when the water appeared in the shower tray and when i saw the moss floating in the water i thought it must be a choked downpipe (the drain is connected to external rainwater pipe)
He's in his 80's and my mum passed away last month and he really got into a bit of a state so I'll arrange for a plumber to do what you suggested.once again thanks for your help
