Isn't my double glazing toughened glass?

But glazing glass will be made to a far higher optical quality than glass used for tables or oven doors.
It is defects in the glass (such as a small air bubble) which generally cause the failures. Any such defect discovered in a glazed unit should mean that it would fail an inspection and therefore get rejected.

Or you could leave it in an exposed area and let nature take it's course.

very much doubt it, toughened is more expensive that annealed glass so no company would just give it for free. glass in windows is generally annealed, it will break into long shards of glass, thats why vunerable areas, doors and areas below 800mm from the carpet level MUST HAVE safety glass, ie either txg or laminated (laminated is like so car windscreens it sticks to an invisible sheet when smashed)

Glass is VERY strong except when something touches the sides. If the table was twisted or a screw metal was rubbing on the edge of the glass then it would shatter in in second, but hey at least you bought a decent txg glass table top, many dont and find out too late, when a long shard of glass has done serious damage!

get them to replace the table and make sure the glass is seperated from touching anything

Buying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
