Is your partner already claiming child tax credits, if so she needs to close the single claim and you will open a joint claim.
Do you live in private rented or council/HA? there are different rules0 -

No she is only on job seekers allowance up to 6 weeks before having the baby (now 4 months old) it then went to a maternity benefit which was the same money as jsa, that's all she get apart from child benefit which is £20.80 a week I think, I think the maternity payments will stop when she moves in, she has been living with her parents up to now.0 -
she should have made a claim for child tax credits in addition to child benefit

If you are in private rented you need to find the LHA rate for a 2 bedroom property in your area (even though you live in a 3 bed they will base it on the 2 bed rate)
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_196239
then go to http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx and put all your details in as if you were living together (it will ask the LHA rate if you pick private rented, if not private rent you do not need this figure)0 -
You'll get CTC, maybe a little WTC and possibly housing benefit - check here http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx0
