Removing paint from terracotta tile floor

Hi I'm after some advise from some experts. Our little entrance hall has a terracotta tiled floor. A previous owner has splashed what I believe to be gloss paint on the tiles. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the paint?
Thanks.
Thanks.

use a scourer , nylon one if possible + warm water0

What your describing as terracotta is perhaps a quarry tile? are these old 100mm or 150mm red tiles?0

Before you try nicks solution it might just pick off. If not get busy with the scourer.

Thanks for the quick replies. Its only a relatively small area so I don't mind using elbow grease so will give it a go this weekend. What your describing as terracotta is perhaps a quarry tile? are these old 100mm or 150mm red tiles?
Yes, they are quarry tiles. Its my first house and so I'm new to all this DIY business!0 -
Don't use anything abrasive on them - hence the nylon scourer - as you'll destroy the surface.saxonrosecliff wrote: »Yes, they are quarry tiles. Its my first house and so I'm new to all this DIY business!

if they are quarries and if the paint is really stubborn then a small amount of paint stripper should do no real harm.0

A thousand thank yous!!! I now have a quarry tiled floor that looks wonderful with no paint on it. I'm ashamed to say that at one point I was just going to cover it with something but it looks fantastic. Is there anything else I need to do to polish/seal it?0
